First Steps

Bringing on a new designer can feel a bit like asking someone to decorate a house while you are still pouring the foundation and throwing a dinner party in the backyard. It’s chaotic, but there’s heart, and we’re glad you’re here to help make sense of the blueprints we sketched on napkins.

The Designer shall depending on project requirements provide some or all of the following services to the Client in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement: (e-mail/phone calls, etc.) regarding the activities below are included as part of defined “services” payable by the client.

Complimentary Phone Consultation

This is where the broad strokes for the project are laid out. What are you thinking? Am I the right one for this job? Let’s figure it out.

Conceptual Design Consultation

This includes onboarding and preliminary design concepts, and in-depth discussion to ascertain style options, budget and time frame estimates and other project needs.

Design Development / Presentation

Finalize and present design options/ recommendations and requirements. How long is this going to take? Are we within scope for the initial design concept. What else is needed to complete this work?

E-mail updates and Project Check Points

Keeping the client informed and making decisions at check points are essential to make sure everyone is onboard with the results throughout the production pipeline.

ABOUT ME

Design is what I have wanted to do since I was 5 years old. I was one of those kids whom the teachers picked out early as being the artist of the class and I’ve had some extraordinary leaders in my life help nurture my talents along the way. At this point I can take on just about any style and create anything I see. Years of practice and growing as a designer has taught me how to learn from failure and use it as a platform to adjust and get it right. You name it, i’ll play it. When I am not designing I am working as a professor of animation and design. This has been a wonderful experience, and the leadership skills that have come from it are invaluable. I also enjoy running, soccer, working out, skating, rock climbing and traveling. Throughout my 20’s I lived all across the United States and in China for two years. It was an amazing experience learning to work with so many different life philosophies and approaches to design. Now I am taking on contract work and ready to help you solve any creative issue, with a great attitude and commitment to getting it right.

INTERVIEW / BOLD JOURNEY

If you’d like to know more about my creative process, here is a link to an interview I did with Voyage Magazine.

BRINGING ON A NEW CREATIVE CAN BE HARD

Here is the first part of a 3 part series I did talking about what the initial onboard steps look like for me when taking on a new client for the all important first meeting.
